[Q] slowness, not responding, odd behaviour

Hello guys,

I posted this on the malware forum and a guy helped me there, said he couldnt find malware in my logs and I should post here... so I'd appreciated getting to the bottom of this:

The "odd behaviours" I get vary, in order of frequency, they are:

- general slowness even without browsers/utorrent running
- Firefox or Chrome or others not responding, sometimes coming back to life, sometimes not.
- script errors on google forums
- Flash crashing on some sites
- a freeze but no BSOD

I'm on Win7 64 SP1.

I'd love some help, though I fear a re-install may be the (entirely unwanted) solution...

Aside from firefox's known memory consumption, check your task manager and see what NT Kernal & System process is doing. I, like many others, had a problem with this steadily consuming the CPU an not releasing except on restart. Various softwares can cause this, particularly some anti-spyware programs. For me, I eliminated them one by one until NT Kernal & System stopped consuming CPU cycles. (It was alesser known, but safe anti-spware product)

Hi there @Goldenskull and all,

I did this, and I am still getting UI freeze, particularly using Firefox. Memory usage is not OTT...

I just had another UI freeze, no mouse movement at all, no blue screen, just frozen and I had to press Restart on the hardware.

Is there any diagnosis app I could try, I'd hate to have to re-install the entire system and all apps, settings, etc etc...

Hi Mark, follow this post carefully and post the requested zipped logs back here, you may need to split the zips to attach them due to size restriction, max. is likely to be around 2-3MB and I can't remember what the limit is here.

Probably the most useful files will be MSInfo32.nfo and the Autoruns.arn but some of the others might be useful too.
