I am using a Memorex 6136U page scanner (a very cheap one) and scanned documents are of poor quality. What should the settings be for best qualty? Can the docs be converted to .pdf and will the quality be improved? If so, how would I do it?

    HI

What type of docs are you scanning are they images, text or a mixture? if text try if the Memorex software installed it to scan to OCR, or if not try just raising the scan resolution as that model should get 9600dpi (resulting scan maybe large in size but maybe better quality) but try a few resolutions to see if you can get a happy medium.

Try scanning to a Word doc if you have Microsoft Office installed as you can do this with the Office Document Imaging app, thats in the Office Tools folder.

If you dont have Office and your Memorex software scanning didnt come with OCR try this SimpleOCR which is free

You could convert to PDF but in the main its an exact copy of what you have scanned, but you can use the likes of DoPDF to convert a doc or image to PDF, by opening the scanned image and seclect Print and in the list of Printers choose DoPDF to print to and you will gain an PDF.

    Hi

Try the OCR methods with the invoices and convert to PDF (as virtually every PC should have or can get Acrobat Reader).
