Quarantined viruses

I run windows xp profesional, and use NORTON ANTI VIRUS, lately NORTON
seem to put a lot of stuff in the QUARANTINE box, when I hit the repair,
it comes up cannot repair , I don't want to open any thing , so how can I get rid of the virusses in that are in quarantine

Norton should have a way for you to empty the quarantine folder. Check the options in Norton for something like "view quarantined files" then perhaps something like remove / delete / purge quarantined files.

 

I think you have to submit the unrepairable viruses to Norton.

You do this by going into the quarantine area. Selecting the item and pressing the submit button on the top. It will check if they know anything about it and how to fix it. If you do not want to wait for a reply, the the button to the left of submit is delete and that will remove your item from the system. At lease this is how it is in NAV 2004.

 

Woodworker: To empty the Quarantined items, open Norton Antivirus on your tool bar, click on Reports, Quarantined items, and highlight the items that you want to get rid of 1 at a time, and delete them from the delete bar at the top. Also check the Backup items folder to see if that has anything in it, alot of the newer virus that come in zipped form Norton puts there, just open it and highlight the ones there and hit that delete button on the top. I have used Norton for many years, and I never leave any on the quarantined items in there. Usually if Norton has quarantined these files, they already know those viruses exsist so you really do not need to send them to Symantec at all. Hope this helps you. YooperLady
