Question about conflicts

In trying to get the Secureit suite reinstalled (see Many infections thread here: http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?p=1300468&posted=1#post1300468) I contacted their live support desk. I have to say that the folks I talked to (I called a couple of times) were helpful and seemed knowledgeable (the second guy I worked with did most everything in DOS from a command window), (and US based, if that matters).

However, he (2nd guy) claimed that malwarebytes, spybot, Superantispy and combofix would conflict with Secureit and uninstalled the programs and removed the install files. (He was remoted into the computer, and I didn't object.) I can reinstall them if needs be, and I had copied the logs. But I have a sneaking suspicion that they were removed because they weren't "his" programs and that his corporate line is "ours is enough". Since the machine I was working on had hundreds of malware infected files, I might differ with that, but it isn't my machine, and the owner paid good money for Secureit.

So, I'm wondering how Combofix, MBAM and SAS, which only run when specifically called, and to a lesser extent Spybot would "conflict" with another security suite.

Anybody got any thoughts on this? (and feel free to move this to a more appropriate forum as needed.)

SecureIt should not be having problems with those other applications especially the free versions which are just scanners. And if it is and also based upon the number of problems seen in the logs you posted in the other thread, the only thing that should be uninstalled is SecureIt. Are you sure that Secureit is a security suite. I thought it was a data encryption package from http://www.cypherix.co.uk/

Secureit plus is a product of soembody called SecurityCoverage. It is a suite of products "sold" by our ISP. There is a description here: http://www.securitycoverage.com/services/secureit_plus.php#1

I don't like it, but this isn't my machine, and the owner has paid for it, so I pretty much have to work with it. I was just wondering if those programs would actually conflict with it, or if their tech support guy was just snowing me. Sounds like your opinion is much the same as mine. Thanks.

    You're welcome.

Since they state they have free tech support, your friend will just have to keep calling them everytime he gets infected. ;)
