    Hi fellow geeks,

I recently purchased some second hand books (HTML 4, Javascript 1.3, PHP core programming), I couldn't afford some new releases (due to a thight budget) so I went to my local "used book" store.
I was wondering if these book are still up to date regarding the information they contain (some dating from 1999), I'm looking to learn the basics on web programming.

So my question is, should I spend time learning from these or have the technology changed that much?

Thanks for sharing any opinion, insight.

    Regards,
    Z

the HTML 4 will give you a nice background on the fundamentals but it is outdated. Infact, they are all outdated but if you atleast read and practice the basics, you can't go wrong. THe basics don't often change much.

www.w3schools.com is a good site to use to brush up on stuff
man, there are literally tons of sites out there where you can learn things from for free.

    Hi,

Thanks a lot for the tips kodo, I will check this out.
About the books, well I gotta say I still prefer sitting back and flipping through the pages of a book (and I got them for only 2$ each). I will definitely take a look on some web sites to brush up a little bit.

    Cheers,
    Zaar
