Question about email clients....

Is there a FREE email client that allows for the importing of Outlook Express DBX files, or the importing of Outlook PST files? I have a client who's Windows is completely hosed; all repair attempts have failed and we have to format the drive, but I will be able to pull off the Outlook PST file (or the OE files, the client doesn't remember if he's using Outlook or OE LOL ). He also doesn't have his Office software or product key.... does OpenOffice have an email client compatible with Outlook PST files?

As I understand this from a brief perusal of the references, you can directly import OE's .dbx files but you cannot directly import Outlook's .pst. With Outlook, the generally recommended procedure seems to be to import the .pst messages into OE or Windows Mail (this would be with Windows Vista) or Windows Live Mail, and then import from them to Thunderbird. Actually, I believe both Thunderbird and Windows Live Mail are options for your new email client.

For Outlook, you just place the saved PST file(s) back to disk, then open it with Outlook, or add it as a data file with the Mail applet in CP. Do not import, as this process will lose certain information from the original PST file.
