Not sure if this is the right place for this question.
    Basically my question is:
"Can you get a virus by leaving your IE open all the time?"
What I mean by this is. If it's open and minimized all day or multiple days at a time.
    Thanks,

i would have to say no.
    as long as...
your computer is behind a firewall and/or a router with NAT ie: network address translation.
usually, you have to go some where, click on something, download something, visit a poisoned site... unfortunately, you have to some how actively participate in the act of getting malware on your computer, which is why so much effort is put into social engineering... tricking people into doing some thing that is not good for their computer.

leaving IE open should be just fine. the only way that could happen would be if your computer is hooked directly into the internet, without anything in between your computer and the internet. if you are hooked directly into the internet, leaving IE open, but minimized, would be the least of your worries.

    take care,
    harmless
