Since the MMR scare has reduced the uptake of baby vaccination apparently the incidence of measles has increased significantly.

The health service is busy promoting the MMR vaccine in an attempt to redress the balance.

Does anyone know if there has been corresponding increases in the other two diseases vaccinated against in the triple MMR vaccine. They are Mumps and Rubella?

Please this is a genuine request for information, so don't turn it into a platform for or against the MMR.

Halo, both your links seem to point to the same table?

This table seems to show that there have been few cases since the 1996 outbreak to make any statistical case: certainly no upward trend is apparent.

That's some interesting data, thanks Laura.

    Hi Studio

Damn, ment that 2nd link to be Mumps and is here http://www.hpa.org.uk/web/HPAweb&HPAwebStandard/HPAweb_C/1195733790975 , but picked the general Measles and Rubella (MR) and they should be different data on the two epidemiological versions, so you now have data for MMR.

Went back and looked at some news stoies from HPA and this is one on the increase of Mumps and it seems alot of it and did get notification last year at some point that its more hitting University campus's http://www.hpa.nhs.uk/webw/HPAweb&HPAwebStandard/HPAweb_C/1254510410314?p=1158945065017

It's the perils of a modern world. 150 years ago, the leading cause of accidental death was horses, today it's cars.
Vaccinations can and do have side effects, usually on a very small % of the population. The alternative, however is probably worse. Illness, epidemics, also with a likely % of subsequent deaths.
It's like pesticides. Without them we'd be eating even more bugs in our food, (yes, there are some now. The FDA even has established maximum rates of contamination, and it is not zero.) Worse, the world's food supply would be devastated with even more starvation resulting. But what effect are the pesticides having on our health? What explains the surge in asthma? When I was in grade school, I never even heard of this illness except in some old folks. Now, I suspect in any class of 30 kids you'd find at least a couple of inhalers.
And then there is the spike in autism. Is it medicine? Pesticides? Air pollution?
I remember seeing data once that established a correlation between adult multiple sclerosis and exposure to dogs as a child.
    Who knows really?
Me, I'm going to live forever. Doing pretty good at that goal so far. In any case I bet I don't miss my goal more that once.;)
