So I'm looking at these new multi-core processors that AMD is selling. The specs usually included a clock frequency. So when they say that this processor is running at 2.2 Ghz, does that mean that each core is running at 2.2 Ghz, or that each core is running at 1.1 Ghz?

each core is running at 2.2ghz ;),giving you the theoretical performanc of a 4.4ghz cpu but not in practice.

Yeah, for anything other than multi-threaded applications, they just aren't worth it. Basically, if you're not sure if you need one, chances are good that you don't.

The prelim specs for Windows Vista (then Longhorn) required a dual core processor, IIRC.
