question about outlook

I have office xp pro and I was wonder if I can set outlook up to check yahoo mail and yahoo mail only?

You need a Mail Plus Account at Yahoo (not a free one)

Yahoo! only lets you check from an application such as Outlook, Outlook express, Thunderbird, etc. if you pay for Mail Plus.

 

Yes you can set up an email account in outlook it will also allow you to set a lot of other preferences to the email account.

Click on tools
Click email account
and follow the prompts

you can and should click outlook help and search "email" and read about the options and set up provided.

 

There is some sort of freeware called YPOPS listed in the outlook help file that allows the free yahoo account mail to be downloaded. From looking a bit at what others say, seems to work ok until yahoo finds a way to block it, so you would have to check for updates frequently. I checked their website, and a bizillion popups attemt to pop up, I had to click the 'do not allow' button several times just to read through one paragraph, for this reason I wouldnt trust it and therefore wont post a link, but thats a personal preference and you can find it easily enough with a search engine.

 

It seems true...sad but true...from email site Yahoo to outlook links are only allowed if you pay for the yahoo plus...

The catch hold is they use a POP address which you need to set up outlook to check for in coming mail and they will not release it to anyone without the pay for version of yahoo.

I am going to check for access from outlook to yahoo as well as the long way maybe yahoo to gmail then outlook to gmail.
