Question about System Restore

A new folder was created under C: in Windows Explorer
    C:\[username] Documents
The contents of C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\My Documents was cut and pasted (I think) into the new folder.
Various folders and subfolders and documents disappeared from the new folder listing.
Looked under Recent Documents in Explorer and shortcuts for these are no good.
Will System Restore bring them back or should I shoot the person?

    TIA

As long as there is a system restore point set before the "accident"

I've tried 3 restore points (1 day,2 days, 8 days) and no go.
(Restore was not able to do this because the computer has not changed - paraphrase)
Should have specified before - the usernames are identical.
    Any suggestions?

If you are running XP, a repair option from the cd should fix it.A repair install will or should save all installed programs, you will however most likely need to reinstall any MS updates

Alternatively, again, assuming you are running XP, go to start , run, type in sfc /scannow (note the space after sfc)insert Xp disc, and keep clicking retry, - can take up to an hour, but I feel the XP repair would be the most likely fix.

Finally talked to the person today and found out the missing info was put in a different unrelated folder. Thanks for your help baklogic.

That must have been a great relief.
Glad you have the issue solved.
