have you cleaned your registry itself. If the programs are no longer on your computer and they are just in the registry then a cleaning may resolve the problem. First go to add and remove programs and make sure they are not there if they are uninstall them that way.

Load and run these two programs and run the registry portion of it. Be sure to back up the registry before you make any changes. Also set a restore point in windows before you run the programs.

    Ccleaner

    Revo Uninstaller

    Hi

Yes if these icons are in the Notification area list then this an issue with Windows that has not an easy clean, as not options exist in XP, Vista.

But you can clear in full this list and it will re-populate with the installed apps you have and removes the old uninstalled apps from this list, some registry editing or delting is needed so usual WARNING over backup registry or the keys about to be deleted.

    XP

Open Regedit ( goto Start > Run and type regedit and hit enter )
Locate the registry key location HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\TrayNotify and right click the folder and choose Export ( this will backup that location for you )

then Delete the two values in IconStreams and PastIconsStream once deleted hit CTRL-ALT-DEL and look for explorer.exe in the Processes Tab and click it and choose End Process ( at this point it is perfectly normal for your taskbar and all desktop icons to disapear )

then with the Task Manager still open click the top menu option of New Task (Run...) and in the Open box type explorer and hit enter.

then when you check the Customize Notifications they will all be gone ( apart from some running ones ) best bet is to restore all your actual running tray processes is to re-boot.

    Vista

Slightly different in that the registry loaction is this HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\TrayNotify

then Delete the two values in IconStreams and PastIconsStream once deleted hit CTRL-ALT-DEL and look for explorer.exe in the Processes Tab and click it and choose End Process ( at this point it is perfectly normal for your taskbar and all desktop icons to disapear )

then with the Task Manager still open click the top menu option of New Task (Run...) and in the Open box type explorer and hit enter.

then when you check the Customize Notifications they will all be gone ( apart from some running ones ) best bet is to restore all your actual running tray processes is to re-boot.

CTRL - ALT - DEL = Task Manager
