Hello to all, I'm trying to help a friend that keeps getting a message server busy when either opening or using QB2000. I'm not sure which forum to look under for info on this message. TIA Brian

I've searched and apparently the "server busy" error comes up not only in QB2000 but also 2007, 2008 and 2009.
These are some suggestions, though I don't know if they apply to the 2000 version.

1.Remove QuickBooks Update Agent from the Startup folder:
    1. Click the Windows Start button, and select All Programs.
    2. Select Startup.
    3. Right-click QuickBooks Update Agent, click Delete, and then click Delete Shortcut.

    2. Remove qbupdate.exe and support.exe from task manager process.
    1. Press and hold the Ctrl+Alt keys and while pressing Delete to open Task Manager.
    2. Select the Processes tab.
    3. Select qbupdate.exe and click End Process.
    4. When the warning message appears, click YES.
    5. Repeat for support.exe.
    6. Close Task Manager.
    7. Open QuickBooks.

    3. try removing the iIntuitfcs.exe under your services tab.
Note: rather than removing this service, if it is set to automatic, I would probably just disable it to see if that caused the problem.

    4. In my Windows XP Security Center I went into the Firewall settings and clicked on the Exceptions tab. In the Exceptions window I added QuickBooks Pro as an exception.

    5. Found after a week of troubleshooting the HP Image Monitor will cause this error every time. Just right click the Image Monitor and disable it from the quick bar and problem solved!

That should give you a few things to try.

The OS is windows XP and the program is working it is just at certain time this window pops up and what ever you click on it doesn't go away until it seems ready to then it will work again.

Thanks plodr I will give those a try!

None of the first three items where found on the system!

I did add QuickBooks Pro to the exception list!

The system is not an HP and I did not see HP image Monitor.

    This is a Dell

I also noticed on this computer it was taking a long time for windows explorer to open, so I a thinking something is running in the background eating up resources, but I can not locate it! Any one have any ideas?
