If you take your computer ( PC or Mac ) to a repair show because of water damage, what are the odds that anything can be recovered in a useful format??

It depends on the extent of the water damage. My Mom's laptop was half under water (don't ask...).
While the motherboard was damaged beyond repair, the drive suffered no damage.

Remove the drive and put it in an external enclosure - no need for a repair 'show' :D.

Depends on the water and depth and time. Ice water, rain water, muddy water?, .....rusty water ( a no-no).....salt water - I did that to a beeper back in the day (1995) and 6 ft deep!
