    Hello,
My question is about the spyware removal process. When I was in safe mode spybot and the microsoft beta did not work. They do work in normal mode though. Just wondering if there is some way to get them to work in safe mode?

Also, I can't remember exactly which one it was, ether it was the bitedefender or the panda active scan would not run if I had the norton antivirus installed. I am certain it was the panda but not a 100% certain. It won't run even when norton is turned off. Is there a way around this without having to uninstall the norton?

Just wondering if there are any other ways or procedures to perform to get my pc running faster, the browsing seems a little slow. It did seem to run a little faster after the anti spware procedure but looks to be back where it was before the procedure. I did take it to best buy and they did scan it and it checked out great they said. However the browsing is still slow. I am using a dell inspiron 6000 laptop that is less than a year old. I am currently using a wireless router provided by the isp it is an actiontec 54 mbps wireless router.

Lastly is about the optimizers out there. The ones that I have read about and recieved good reviews on download.com are System Mechanic 6.0 Pro, Tuneup utilities 2006, Ashampoo WinOptimizer, and Advanced system optimizer. Are they really worth the money or are they a waste? How about any of the pay anti spyware software I have heard that Spy sweeper and Ad-Aware are about the best is there others that are better then the two? After running the anti spyware process I had a thought my norton dose not seem to catch any of the spy ware and it is the free ones that I have installed that do all of the spyware removal. Is there any recomendation on another antivirus/antispyware protection out there. If norton is not going to do the job I would like to purchase something better as soon as it expires.

thank you time and have a great day. I am very glad to have run across your site.

Please describe what you mean by "do not work". What happens when you try to run them? Any error messages? Does nothing happen at all? Do they start to run and then abort......etc?

You must keep better track of problems so you can gives us exact information. There is no reason that I know of that Bitdefender or Panda should not be able to run with Norton. You may just need to tell Norton to allow scripts or something similar. Try again and then tell us the exact program and message you get. If Norton just pops up asking what to do, tell it to allow the program to run. Otherwise we will have to use another tool. But literally hundreds of Symantec/Norton users run these scans every week.

Cannot answer that until we are sure you are free of malware. Many performance problems that users experince are not malware. It is more frequently that fact that they install too many programs on their PCs and allow them to run to many processes full time that are not needed. Also many programs (which Norton is one of) are just massive resource hogs.

This forum is about Malware not about system optimizers. Those questions would be better served in the Software Forum. My opinion however is Not needed!

Spy Sweeper is well worth the money on the malware cleaning/protection front.

As far as Norton is concerned, most of us here do not care for it. And the free programs to as good or even better a job and they are not so resource hungry.
