Hey having some problems with a few cds/dvds/game discs. wondering if anyone has a cleaner or if anyone knows anything about them to see which ones might be good/bad or any other solutions to get rid of defect spots on them

    thanks

Cleaners are good for 'cleaning'; stuff like finger prints, dust, food (yes, food), etc. If you have defects like scratches or wear 'rings', a cleaner won't do any good. If it's wear rings, the disc may be useless, or close to it, and your drive may be out of balance. If the scratches aren't too bad or too deep, some stores that sell used CD/DVDs have a polishing service. The local rate is $5 each, or 5 CDs polished for $20. If it's just minor wear and scratches, a polishing can make it almost as good as new. I have no idea if these polishing machines are easily available to the general public.....

White toothpaste. Do not use gel or any toothpaste that has gel stripes in it. It has to be plain white.
Rub from the center out. Do not rub in a circle.

    I also found these directions:

i have had some success with disc dr (i think thats the name), it will actually "shave" off some of the plastic, getting rid of some of the scratches. You cant do it very often, it will make the disc not work.
