    Hey Guys,
Just a hypothetical question here. I've seen so much info on custom builds for DESKTOPS. Now my question is:
Is there a way to custom build a LAPTOP?? I've seen a few things on it but it's not as main stream as for desktops.
    Thanks,

You can only use the parts that are approved for a specific laptop due to heat and power constraints. Memory is basically the only thing that I know of that is user upgradeable, maybe a different CPU. You basically have to live with what you got.

Yes, you could change the cpu, also the hard drive is also replaceable. In some high end laptops, I've read you could upgrade the video card, but that was rare.

Laptops that have interchangeable graphics cards are probably in the sub 2% bracket (I've had 3 ;) ) no, I never got to upgrade them - but they were better than the UMA-types to begin with.

If you have mega-bucks, you could go the full-on custom route, SLI and RAID, etc. from a couple of bespoke outfitters ;)

There were some DIY kits available a couple of years ago but I don't think they were more than low-end spec - probably ok if you already had a few spare parts hanging around that you could incorporate into the build though.
