Hello... I have three questions about running SUPERAntiSpyware.

    In this article:
    SUPERAntiSpyware - running & getting a log
    http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=127217

There's a step toward the end:
"Click on the Repairs Tab. Click on Repair broken Network Connection (WinSock LSP Chain) and then click on Perform Repair"

Do I need to (or should I) do this if no malware is detected by SAS?

This is probably a dumb question... When following "READ & RUN ME FIRST" and the "Windows XP Cleaning Procedure", I install and scan with several programs. After I finish scanning with one, should I uninstall it before moving onto the next one?

One more thing -- when I went to SUPERAntiSpyware's website, I clicked Support, and under "Installation and Uninstallation" I found this page:

    How do I uninstall SUPERAntiSpyware?
    http://www.superantispyware.com/supportfaqdisplay.html?faq=47

If I ever want to uninstall SAS, should I follow the "Preferred Uninstallation Method" instructions on that page and use the "Uninstaller Assistant"? Is this a good idea?

It just seems kind of odd to me, using a program to directly uninstall a program like that. I always use "Add or Remove Programs" to uninstall a program normally, then sometimes a cleanup utility to remove any traces left behind (like with Norton AntiVirus). I thought I should at least check with you guys.

    Thanks in advance!

Question 1) Only if you are having internet connection problems that might have been caused by malware.

Q2) Our guide has you disable your active scanners when you run our scans, which are on-demand scans so there is no conflict.

Q3) We are now suggesting that you keep both SAS and MWB's as backup scanners. Though using a tool from the program designers is probably a good way to insure that all of the program is removed ( a la Norton Removal tool).

    Are you having malware issues?

    Thanks for answering my questions!

I'm not having any malware issues (as far as I know...). I'm going to see if scanning with these programs turns anything up. I'll only post my logs this time if I find anything, keeping my fingers crossed that I don't.

One more thing I just thought of, that's been bugging me for awhile...

I still have those days of Windows 95-98 embedded in my mind -- whenever you installed or uninstalled a program, you always had to restart the computer afterwards. Ever since the advent of XP, it doesn't seem to be necessary to restart when installing/uninstalling a fair number of programs, at least I'm not prompted to very often.

When installing SAS, MWB's, Spybot, (or even similar security programs) -- is it a good idea to restart the computer after installing or uninstalling the program (just for good measure), even if I'm not prompted to?

Or should I just install, (and if not prompted to restart) download updates, then scan? Then move onto doing the same thing for the next program without restarting (unless prompted)?

No need to restart unless you are prompted to do so. As for a few programs that require a restart, I would uninstall, then run CCleaner and then restart.

Best to install, update and scan ( as some malware gets worse everytime you restart.:()
