i had problems with my ram going bad so i wanna get quality, brand name ram.

i know this one works for me 100%.

    http://www.crucial.com/store/partspecs.Asp?IMODULE=CT12864Z335

but i also found this one on ebay:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...90031154620&rd=1&sspagename=STRK:MEWA:IT&rd=1

model #, is the same. its sold as Crucial Gateway, whatever that is. and its confusing me because it has a gateway sticker on it where a crucial sticker should be.

so whats the difference between the 2? is one made by Crucial the other by Gateway using Crucial chips? or is it the same exact thing just resold by gateway and they put thier sticker on it? or is it lesser quality ram?

It looks to be the same exact memory, just different stickers.
Gateway doesn't make Memory, they buy it from several sources

I never buy from Ebay, I know too many people who have been ripped off

I'd look somewhere like Newegg for memory.

What are the specs of your PC, Particularly your CPU, your CPU might support faster memory like PC3200/ddr400

my motherboard (iwll p4ht) says it want PC2100/2700. i think 3200 is find too, i'm not set on buying this particular one, its just looks like a good deal.

    i have P4 2.9ghz.

whats wrong with buying on ebay, if there is something wrong with it, i'll just send it to the manufactaror to get it replaced. i know newegg is quality, but its also around $110+ for the ram i want, ebay is about $85.

I dont know anyone who has been ripped off Newegg or any other reputable retailer

I probably shouldnt have said anything about Ebay, that was only my Opinion

    Shop where you Like
Make sure you read the return policy & any warranty info

If I was to shop Ebay I would use a CC then if there was a problem the CC company can do charge back.

    Have a look at www.pricewatch.com
There are several pc3200 1gb sticks for under $80 shipping included, several are Samsung one of the Worlds largest manufacture of memroy chips ( they make chips for Dell, Gateway, Emachine, HP, Kingston, Crucial, Corsair, Adata, Muskin, Patriot and countles other companies

    It's probably fine

I'd suggest once you get your memory, run mem test, if you can run for 8hr without error, then your good to go
