Quick Ms Office Online Q

I have no version of Office installed on my W10 pc. So if I use Office online I can't save any documents to my pc, they only save to a OneDrive?

Maybe I could find how to use my old W7 Office (2013?) as some kind of virtual pc on my newer machine.

Your 'old' version should be just fine on Win 10. I still use Office 2007 on mine with no issues at all.

 

Except it came installed on the lappie. No disc. Oh well.

 

You don't have to have MS Office as there are a number of third party suites available which have a high degree of Office compatibility, i.e. can read/write Word, Excel etc documents. Have a read HERE. Libre Office in particular gets regular recommendations here on MG.

 

Why not use free Google Docs across the web interface?
No installs required and Win10 loves it.

Sign in using your Google account and all Doc's, Sheet's are not only auto saved to the cloud, but you can also download all completed work in most formats to your HDD including:
-Microsoft Word (.docx)
-Open Document Format (.odt)
-Rich Text Format (.rtf)
-PDF
-Plain txt
-Web Page (.html zipped)

etc

 

Using Libre. Want real MS appls so as to brush up. They always change stuff, like w/the OSs. Need to for work but they don't have any deal w/MS.
