Hey, I've been reading about a lot of people who have been getting their desktop all messed up with some kind of Danger: Spyware message. Anyone know how this is coming about or if there's anything special that can be done to avoid it? Other than the kickash stuff in chaslang's thread I mean. Thanks for any info.

Its hard to say exactly where its coming from, mainly it comes from browsing the web unprotected. Most of the users that have this infection are running WinXP with no service pack, no firewall and/or no antivirus. Doing this your pretty much asking for infections.

The only suggestion I have to protect yourself from this baddie is to be careful what websites you visit and to watch what you download. Keep you antivirus, firewall and windows up-to-date with the latest updates/definitions.

"hint" stay away from P2P ;)

Groovy, thanks for the reply, I've done bout everything you guys have suggested, and I've managed to stay clean thus far. Just seems this one is ugly and if there's anything else that can be done to avoid it, I'd think I'd like to. :)

As long as you have your up-to-date firewall, antivirus and OS you will be fine.:)
