Quick question

I trying to find out what software firewall is the best. Currently im using Tiny something or other personal firewall version around 2.0 something. I like it, but im guessing the version is out of date and im looking for a replacement. Can anyone suggest one software firewall and why one is better than the other? Also, I do have a router, Linksys Di-604 which has a built in firewall. I'm a little sceptical about using it since it doesnt really tell me if something is trying to connect or connect out of my computer... What kind of settings are best when using the built in router firewall?
