Quicktime - Out of Date?

I just uninstalled Quicktime, downloaded and installed the neweset version of Quicktime v7.1.6.200 and now everytime I start it, it says "Some of your QuickTime software is out of date. You can fix this problem by updating to the latest version." There is a "Cancel" and "Do It Now" buttons. When I click the "Do It Now" button all it does is freeze the computer. I've waited up to 10 minutes for something to happen, but I get nothing.

Anyone have any ideas?

Have you tried removing it, and re-installing it? Works for me sometimes in similar situations?

 

QuickTime always ran quirky on our Compaq laptop. I use VLC Media player to view quicktime clips (.mov). Sounds like uninstall isn't uninstalling everything. I look in Program Files, Common Files in Program Files, and in Documents and Settings in every users folder in the Application Data Folder for traces of items left behind by an uninstall. Some uninstallers let you know what wasn't removed. In Folder Options I choose to View hidden files and folders. I also do not Hide extensions for known file types (makes renaming files a little more work as you don't want to change the files extension), or hide operating system files.

 

Sorry been really busy recently, I will try your different suggestions and see what I can come up with.
