    Hi All,
I am having an very frustrating problem with a printer I purchased. The printer is a Canon GP 200E. The printer is also a copier, and fax. I have 3 pc's that I would like to be able to use this printer. The problem that I am having is as follows.... When I try to add the printer to my pc (pc#1) I am unable to print to it. I am having the same problem with pc#3. PC#2 however is able to print to it with no problems (see below for pc configurations). I assigned the printer an IP address (192.168.0.200), and hence added a TCP port as the local port on pc's 1 & 3. I am able to ping the printer from both pc 1 & 3. I receive the generic error message "This document failed to print" when trying to print a test page. I am using the same driver as pc #2 (which is printing w/o any problems) on both pc 1 & 3. Confused yet???? Anyway any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You information is a little confusing.

If the printer is a Network Printer. I.e. has a RJ-45 connection, the printer should be plugged to a port on your Switch (Router or Hub etc.).

The Network printer drivers have to be installed separately on each Networked computer, and each computer would be able to Print/Scan/Fax independently to the Printer.

If your printer is a regular USB/LPT unit, it has to be connected installed directly on one computer with its software (No IP or Network related setting). This computer would be able to use the Printer/Scan/Fax etc.

Once it is installed and working correctly on one computer you can share the printer part (Scan Fax etc. are usually not sharable) with other computers. The printer drivers have to be installed on other computers using the peer-to-peer setting of the drivers.

Thanks for the reply Cat5e. The printer is a network printer that has a NIC card. It is plugged into a switch. I installed the print drivers for the printer via the software included with the printer. I am using the same print driver on all pc's (driver: Canon GP200 PCL 5e). Just to clarify, this is a network printer that is not directly attatched to any PC. Do you have any thoughts on why I can print on PC#2 and not on PC#1 or #3? Thanks for your help!

Are you going through the add network printer wizard in windows?
Can the PCs all communicate amoung each other?

I am adding the printer as a local printer, and then creating a new TCP/IP Port since it is on the network. All of these computers can ping each other.

Does anybody else have any insight on this issue? I am still trying to resolve this problem, with out any luck.
