R.I.P Maggie

My dog Maggie of 12 years just past away last night. Really hard for me and my family. First time I think I've cryed over an animal and first time I think I've ever seen my father cry.

R.I.P Maggie you will be missed and will always be apart of our family.

Do not break my spirit with a stick, for though I should lick your hand between the blows, your patience and understanding will more quickly teach me the things you would have me do.

Speak to me often, for your voice is the world's sweetest music, as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail when your footstep falls upon my waiting ear.

When it is cold and wet, please take me inside... for I am now a domesticated animal, no longer used to bitter elements... and I ask no greater glory than the privilege of sitting at your feet beside the hearth... though had you no home, I would rather follow you through ice and snow than rest upon the softest pillow in the warmest home in all the land... for you are my god... and I am your devoted worshiper.

Keep my pan filled with fresh water, for although I should not reproach you were it dry, I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst. Feed me clean food, that I may stay well, to romp and play and do your bidding, to walk by your side, and stand ready, willing and able to protect you with my life, should your life be in danger.

And, beloved master, should the Great Master see fit to deprive me of my health or sight, do not turn me away from you. Rather hold me gently in your arms as skilled hands grant me the merciful boon of eternal rest...and I will leave you knowing with the last breath I drew, my fate was ever safest in your hands."

Ah man sorry to hear that

 

Dear Beth, I feel your pain, coming from a dog adoring family. We have lost so many*babies* to old age or health.

As far back as I can recall, we always had Doggies, in the house.

They sleep on the beds, when ever they fancy(Every morning). Are given treats from the dining table and basically spoilt rotten. Kissed on the nose -I even nip/bite on their tounge???

I'm weak, when It comes to tolerating the loss of a pet. I *JUST* manage to be out of town for a few days. And leave it to the family...

As of now we have two Saint Bernard's and a Golden Retriever....

I'm aware, words can assuage your loss. So, from one dog lover to another, RIP Maggie..

 

Aww abz, so sad to hear this. The death of a pet is always a large loss for the family.

Sorry to hear about your dog, abz1nthe. We lost our dog of 11 a couple of years back, and it gets easier to deal with as time goes on. At least we've still got the memories of times spent with them.

 

Thanks everyone It is still very sad to come home everyday and not have my dog there waiting for me I have some pictures I am going to get blown up so I will always see and remember her

 

I grew up with dogs and know what a heartbreak it is when you loose one.
I send my most sincere condolences.

Both my wife and i are real animal lovers and now have a cat ( we are not able to walk a dog)that has been with us just over 11 years and i know there will be a lot of grief when she finally goes.

 

So sorry that you have lost a beloved family member. On a brighter note, 12 is not a bad age for a dog. As mentioned, the memories and good times never die.

Been through a few dog losses myself, and it doesn't get any easier with each experience. To be well loved, live a good life and be thought of fondly when you're gone-guess that's about all any of us can wish for.~ Best wishes, Abz.

 

That's too bad to hear, my sister's cat is on it's last legs right now so i imagine that my family will be going through the same thing soon.
