Hi I'm a bit of a newbie but willing to learn. Recently had a problem with my transformer. Friend of a friend checked it out and removed the bios battery (static check I think). I replaced the power unit and machine works fine except when starting it shows a platinum logo (it never used to) and then goes into RAID setup. At the moment I just exit this and it loads up fine but my girlfriend is registered blind and struggles to navigate past it (resulting in me leaving my machine on most of the time). How should I proceed with removing or resolving this. Tried googling it but my brain slowly melted out of my ears!

    Thanks in anticipation.

The new start screen and the raid setup you are seeing are a result of the BIOS settings being cleared due to the removal of the system battery. In order to fix these issues, you will need to enter the BIOS and change the settings (usually by pressing delete during the first few seconds of boot, sometimes f1 or f2). In particular, you want to turn off "full screen logo show"--unless the screen doesnt bother you

for the RAID, you want to make sure the IDE devices are set to IDE only, if you see them on RAID options, or there may be a separate category pertaining to RAID.

If you have trouble locating these, please let us know the model of your computer (or motherboard if its a custom built machine) and we can try to help you further. :)

Thanks. I've got rid of the logo screen. Just noticed as well that if I leave it for a few seconds then I don't have to enter the RAID setup. It just carries on start up. However, when the initial list of system details come up I do have to push either F1 to continue or delete to enter setup. I have a MSI K8N Neo4 Series motherboard running an AMD Athlon 64. Couple of things I noticed on that load up page is that I have no IDE Primary Master/Slave (does this make a difference?) and at the bottom it says Floppy Disk(s) Fail (40) although I don't have a Floppy Drive fitted. My DVD-ROM and RW are IDE Secondary and my two hard drives are third.

Try changing the following in the BIOS, this is from your motherboard manual so it should be there :)

I forgot to circle it in the 2nd picture, but Disable the onboard FDC controller.

That did the trick! You are a gentleman and a scholar and we salute you!
    Cheers.
