Ram Installation

Hi
I own a Dell Dimention 2400 and curently have a 256mb Ram in 1 or 2 slots.
I am looking to buy a 1gb of Ram and put this in slot 2, if i do this will this mean i have a 1256mb RAM and also can any1 go through step by step how to install it thanks

 

As far as the type and amount the dell will take you should refer to your mobo manual or go dl it from the dell site--http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim2400/en/

I can't say for sure but I think your machine can only go to 1Gig of RAM and that would probably mean you would have to have two 512's.

Check with Dell for sure on your machine

 

Just a little tip when i updated my dell i went through crucial just because they are experts on ram for Dell. They also pretty much promise it will work with it.
