Ram mixing

Ok so ya is it really a bad idea if i mix some rams. Also when i was getting help on another forum someone said that k-byte is alley way ram the one i am using and he told me to get kingston i don't know what he meant by this but the ram look exactly the same.

 

Ok the brand of the ram dosent really matter, i myself in my desktop have ram from 3 differnt companies mixed in there and it runs like a champ. The two most important things to consider is the CAS latency of the ram, if you have even one high latency stick all of your ram is going to run at that high latency even if you shell out the dough for low latency. Then the other thing you have to make sure is that the ram is the same speed, for example if you have 5400 you want the other sticks to also be 5400. If there not the same speed its usually not a big deal, but all of the sticks will operate at the speed of the slowest stick. Hope that helped!

 

what about Dual-channel

 

Dual channel will work, but not as well as if its a matched pair. If you want to take full advantage of dual channel buy a matched pair.

Matched pairs just simply means the factory tested both pairs with each other. You really don't need a matched pair to run duel channel, but its much simpler and easier to just order a matched pair, with as much shit as can go wrong now adays for the few extra bucks its worth a matched pair.
