OK, am shopping for RAM and finding that there is 184pin and 240pin. How do I figure out what I need? I know that my Mobo (K7T 266 Pro-2A) will not take ECC type RAM, but otherwise ahve not located any more pertinant info.

Trying to upgrade from 256 of RAM to a gig so I can actually get some real work done here :)

    THanks all in advance.

Not to be mean or rude, but if it took SDRAM as opposed to DDR RAM, it would ahve about 3 gig's of it in this machine. I have more SDRAM than I know what to do with.

It currently has 256 of DDR in it (Each RAM Stick has 1 slot as opposed to 2 in the SDRAM sticks) and needs a lot more to do what I want it to.

    You are correct :)

Your socket A motherboard takes DDR (184 pin) RAM. 240 Pin is for the newer DDR2. It seems your FSB is 266mhz, so effectively, pc2100 DDR RAM (DDR266) is the maximum performance you can achieve (short of overclocking), but it may be far cheaper to buy pc3200 (DDR400) RAM as it is more common. It will easily run at pc2100 and fit perfectly in your board. Happy hunting!

    Sorry!
    I made a mistake:eek:

I was looking at different MOBO, K7T Pro 2a instead of your K7T 266 pro-2a
