I'm shopping for the LAST FEW PIECES :)D ) of my new computer *yay.* BUT... I'm down to the bottom of my wallet, so I need to save money on 2 of the worst parts to "save money" on: the gfx card, and the RAM. So, I have set out my options. I want to total 2gigs of system memory. I have 4 189pin slots on the mobo. I could:
Buy 4 sticks of 512mb cheap brand (lifetime warranty tho) RAM for $130
Buy 2 sticks of 1gb cheap brand (3 year warranty) RAM for $145
Buy 4 sticks of 512mb "value" corsair RAM for $152.50
Buy 2 sticks of 1gig "value" corsair RAM for $168

Prices compliments of Newegg. Of course there are really a lot more options, like low latency RAM at higher prices, but I really don't want to put more into the RAM then I get out. Is it better to get a cheap brand low latency, cheap brand cheap latency, corsair low latency, or corsair "value" latency? Is the money I save on buying 512s instead of gig sticks worth it in the long run? I'm biased, since right now I just want a working computer. Feel free to also leave suggestions on a gfx card. Sorry for the long post.

Post your system's specs, it's makes a differance on the type memory, Video card too)

Some MOBOs' just dont like all 4 memory slots being used & sometimes defaults to slower speed
Memory, even of the same manufacture use different chips, TCCD,TCCC,BH5 bla bla bla, some mobo's dont like some types of chips, many MOBO manufactures have lists of compatible memory.
I would never buy any memory that doesnt have Lifetime Warranty!

    Graphics card, A gamer?
I dont much like ATI, Butt, some do

    Nvidia Geforce, Ya Ya
    6600GT $120 & up
    6800GT aprox $250 +
    7800GT around $300 & Up
AGP interface prices are higher, I dont think the 7800 is avaible in AGP, probably out of your range anyway.

The more ram stick you have in the slower you ram speed will be ( thow the effect is small ) ...... as for ram timings id go for the low latancy sticks........
