i am trying to upgrade my friends pc. her motherboard is a GE PRO-M2.

i have checked the asrock site and it tells me that the maximum ram is 2gb. so i got 2 1gb sticks of kingston ddr 333 ram. i also got a 8x agp geforce 6200.

the pc works fine with her old 256 ddr 400 ram. but for some reason the 1gb sticks wont work. it goes onto the post screen but fails to do a memory test. sometimes it just sticks on the 1st screen telling you what graphics card you have in.

i have bought the right stuff but it wont take it for some reason. does anyone have any ideas?

I would suggest you go to crucial.com and have it scan the system and tell you what it will take.

i tried a different stick of ram. a 512mb ddr 333 and still the same. it works in other pcs but not this one. the 256 ddr 400 is the only one that will work.

any ideas folks? this is driving me bonkers
