    Hi -

I hope someone out there can spot my problem because I followed the standard XP clean procedures recommended on this site and still have serious issues. (See attached logs.)

I've been using Firefox as a browser and running grisoft AVG free Anti-virus/Anti-spyware/Resident Shield and the Windows firewall. I've spent the last few days trying to deal with the problems that recently cropped up.

    Typical symptoms:
-Every couple of minutes an IE type window pops up. At the moment it's blank, but it usually says something about security errors (I used Task Manager to stop some sort of "security" application from running and since then the IE window has been blank.)
-Placed a porn DVD icon on my desktop
-Placed a lesbian/bi icon on my desktop
-Put fishing type warning icons/messages in the lower right of my start bar: "Attn! Low Performance", "Attn! Attack Detected", "Error! Check Connection", "Security Error"
-Every few minutes I get the following dialog: "Windows Security Alert"
Do you want to block this software from sending data over the internet?
Name: Trojan-Spy.Win32.KeyLogger.aa [or .Bankfraud.dq and others]
    Risk Level: Critical
    Description: Trojan keyboard logging function
    Buttons:
    Keep Blocking (Grayed)
    Unblock (Grayed)
    Enable Protection (Selectable)

As I said, I have carefully followed the clean procedure outlined on this site. Please help! Thanks much.
    - Reed

You did not need to make a new thread....you just have to make a second post in your thread for the additional attachments. Please keep all of your replies in this thread.

Do you know what these are:
    C:\Program Files\gs
    C:\Program Files\MSA
    C:\Program Files\innoheim
    (If not, delete them.)

Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Now download The Avenger by Swandog469, and save it to your Desktop.

    * Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    * Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    * Do not change any check box options!!
    * Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it into the Input script here: part of the window:

    * Now click the Execute button.
    * Click Yes to the prompt to confirm you want to execute.
    * Click Yes to the Reboot now? question that will appear when Avenger finishes running.
    * Your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    * A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt and it will popup for you to view when you login after reboot.

Also delete all files in the below folders except ones from the current date (Windows will not let you delete the files from the current day).
    C:\WINDOWS\Temp
    C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Temp

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this and also attach the log from Avenger.

Be sure to tell us how things are running.

Relief! Thanks so much for your help, Tim. I've never suffered a malware attack that couldn't be cleaned up automatically by anti-virus/spyware programs. Now that my system is behaving normally, I don't have to run out and buy a mac!

P.S. I've attached the latest logs if you're interested.

No you don't have to get a Mac.....but you do need to uninstall one of these:
    avast! Antivirus
Norton Internet Security ---> I assume this is paid for.

Plus you didn't answer my question. What are these:
    C:\Program Files\gs
    C:\Program Files\MSA
    C:\Program Files\innoheim

Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):
