Ran SAS now PC will not start

My wife's computer started having Antivirus Online and Internet Security 2010 popping up. So I started running through the Read Me First instructions. My problem is that after running SuperAntiSpyware (it found 72 items) and rebooting the PC it will not boot up now. I get to the point in start-up where the background picture comes up for a second and then, instead of going to the desktop it gives me the screen where you select the user. If I click on the user it tries to start but then the message "saving personal settings" appears under the user icon and that is all it will do. It does this in safe mode also.

So, is there anything I can try short of a system recover?
