Randomly lose sound with WMP 11 on laptop

    I have a Toshiba Satellite P15-S420 laptop with WindowsXP and WMP 11.

    Lately when playing media on the media player the sound will stop and the only way to get the sound back is to re-boot the laptop.

    A friend put on the free version of AVG virus protection. Could this have something to do with this problem?

    Any help would greatly be appreciated.
