what ranks get certain privilages (example: posting in malware removal)

 

The ranks have no increase in privileges. they are an indication of post count.
The malware forum is a special case where only experts are allowed to post replies.

Post count/ranks is mostly irrelevant but most sites do it. Some sites use the post count to limit the ability of posting links and pictures for new members for security reasons, basically, keep the spammer robots out.

 

speaking from experiance do not concern yourself with rank or post counthere at MG, it never ends well
