    Good day

A friend of mine recently got hit with one of these viruses Ukash. He called in an expert someone to fix. Eventually this man told him that his motherboard
had been affected by the malware and that he should dump the pc. He weighed up a new motherbaord vs pc and plumped for the pc. Does this malware do this. I can not imagine it .I am surprised as I have seen Hitman Pro online which reckons to take it out. My solution that sprang to mind was to load a new partition OS and then delete the old. Would this work. At least I would have all my docs etc instead he has lost the lot and us seniors need everything we have.

    Thanks for any assistance.

Are you in physical possession of the computer? If you are, we can try to clean it. I have never heard of that malware, or any other for that matter, that ruins a motherboard.

Your best solution is to try doing the following, even if you can only boot to safe mode:

    Good day Tim

Thanks for your reply . Unfortunately No as I am in Ireland and he in Scotland. However I will write to him and enquire if he still has it. If so I will put it to him that he should register and make a post. We are all in our seventies so you know we can be a bit set in our ways and he may decline. Again thanks for confirming what I felt.

    Good day Tim

Just opened an e from Alf and he says that unfortunately he has dumped it. So again thanks but one last question. Did you think my idea of a new partition and reload the OS.
Destroy the old OS , retaining wanted files, would do the trick.

Yes, assuming the motherboard was not at fault. ;)
