Raxco Perfect Disk

Someone offered me a copy of Perfect Disk 5.0 (Old one not available any more) Im wondering if it is ethical for me to use it.Would appreciate any opinions on this. I would not update it because of this.

 

If they have uninstalled the program and given you their copy then no problem. If they offerer still uses the program then I would say you would be out in unethical land, unless the program has some sort of open EULA

 

If they gave you the original CD/floppies than you have a legal copy IMHO. If they continue to use it on their machine without the original CD, then they are illegal. If they only gave you a "copy" of the original CD, then you would be illegal to use it. Bazza

What does it do, anyhow? Maybe someone here at MG can suggest an alternative program to do the same task. Maybe free, as well, as a bonus. Bazza

Its an excellent smart placement defragger Baz

 

In MG http://www.majorgeeks.com/search.php , type defrag in Search box and <enter>. About 50 choices there. Don't know if they are free or shareware. I use Nortons Speed disk (part of Norton's system Works), have used it for years so cannot comment on anything else. Let us know if you something to use. Bazza
