Thanks LauraR for setting me straight on why I should start my own thread!:)

I'm using comodo free firewall on my Toshiba Satellite C655D laptop Vista 7 AMD E300APU with Radeon HD Graphics 1.30 Ghz 4G ram ( never been sure why this info is requested but here it is )

As I was typing this Avast free also poped up telling me that I have 11 programs(?) running that could be shut down and "save me" 2.8 Megs of space.

The post started mostly about Comodo's pop-ups that warn me of 30plus thousand registry "junk". That slows down my computer. I do notice that this PC does not load anywhere near what it did new.

Besides Avast and Comodo I refquently use malwarebytes ( several times a week) and CC cleaner several times a week. I use the tools that come with PC's such as chkdsk, defrag, and disk clean-up. Once the pop-up went from 30K reg problems down to 4k but in a day of using my computer it went back up to 32,416 problems.

Of course Geek Buddy wants to help for a price. After I read what I read in that last post that I mistakenly posted in; they often want things deleted or uninstalled that they simply do not know.

I'v just went out and purchased a new laptop that is clearance price but more advanced that then one it will replace. I take what I want off the old PC, put it on a back up drive, and give or donate the old one after formatting and whipping the old HDD

I suppose you can say: problem solved. But I really would like to get a little more use out of an otherwise good PC.

Do I REALLY need to pay GeekBuddy 19.99 for once session of "cleaning" out my junk?

    Answer: NO!

You run CCleaner which has a Registry cleaner built-in. When you installed Comodo, you should have done a Custom install which would have allowed you to choose not to install GeekBuddy. I've run CIS for it's AV and Firewall and the fact it received top ratings for both but found it too obtrusive and had quite a "learning curve". I now run Qihu's 360 Internet Security.

You may want to Google "change prefetch windows vista" (or 7 (you list both)). to help with speeding up the computer. I did on my Vista drive and it greatly improved time from Start to Desktop.
