Hello. I have a question. Does the "LATEST" version of Opera at this time (v.10.54) work/compatible with the "LATEST" version of Microsoft Silverlight "THAT IT IS FULLY FUNCTIONAL"?

I have read older online reports, articles, and posts online that they were working on it. That was some time ago. Some users said yes with some glitches and error messages and/or some limited functions. Has anyone found out about this with Opera --the least popular of the 5 popular browsers (Works with: Firefox 2+; Internet Explorer 7,8; Chrome; Safari 3+4 on Mac only; and maybe Opera?)? I guess Microsoft got Silverlight to work with the other top 4 browsers -- Windows or not.

    Please reply.

    Thanks!

    Hello. Thanks for your reply.

I appreciate your reliable source from Wikipedia. Yes, I see it says that it indicates that it is "unofficially" supported via this source; but what is meant by "unofficially"? It states, "Unofficially, Silverlight support is already available to Opera via a hack.". That brings up the next question, what is the hack? I have done some light search for a hack and I do not see the detailed steps or some EXE file I would need to follow. Does anyone know the hack and its consequences?

The source also indicates that that, "Opera will be officially supported with future builds". We will see. From other sources I read, they have been saying this for a few years now. I hope an agreement between Microsoft and Opera is reached and not ignored. I have read it is from both sides why Opera is lacking this compatibility. Silverlight is an essential and growing web application component to dynamic websites. I feel without Opera and Microsoft working it out, Opera will eventually die as a viable web browser. Flash is old, reliable, and popular; but Silverlight is gaining ground fast. Web Designers and Web Developers are using Silverlight more and more. Will Moonlight be their savior? Again, we will see.

Please reply to my question above. Thanks!

Hell, Opera barely works with itself. I've hung with it for 5 or 6 years but am getting increasingly frustated. Things either don't ever work right, or an "update" comes out that kills some feature which used to work.
