    Hi,

When clicking a link using vue.me all I get is a blank page.

Using different browsers gives same result. I know it's a URL
shortner but it will not work for me. I don't have that domain
blocked so I'm at a loss as to why it doesn't work for me.

VitalURL supplies that link but can't access them either.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Lou

Never heard of them. What you trying to do? I hate to give google answers but if you were to google your question -

vue.me appears to have gone belly-up a year ago. Their site says :
    May 2007 - February 2010
Thanks for the journey - Josh Fraser and Rob Johnson

And Vitalurl is a url rotator
Welcome to our URL Rotator System!
Our system will allow you to use one URL for rotating different sites.

Which is fine for placing ads in a webpage, but probably won't lead anywhere if you say, bookmarked the link instead of the actual site it was pointed to at the time.

    Re: domain vue.me

First, my error. It's not Vitalurl, it's viralurl.com that refuses connection...
Get Failed to Connect error msg.

They supply the vur.me links. I tried Google but in spite of what they say,
vur.me is alive and well. What I'm trying to do is click some vur.me links
but when I do all I get is a blank page....here is a link I click and get a
blank page, yet the person that used it tells me it works fine for him...

    http://vur.me/rcbafna/goldenlist

    Thanks,

    Lou

Hey, those are both totally different from the original. That link works for me. Let me see what i can figure out. Can you give me your setup? No firewall on the router, nothing on the computer that could be blocking you? What OS?

Patience is a virtue. Please remember that this site is based on volunteers who give their free time to help others. Often, a thread may be viewed by a number of people, but not answered because many of them are not familiar with the issue. :major

Let me just add that WOT considers this a bad site. Perhaps you should check in your hosts file to be sure it is not being blocked.

    Re: domain vue.me

I use no router. My OS is Windows XP. No block for that domain.
No link using vue.me works. Tried 4 different browsers, same problem.

    Re: domain vue.me

No, the first post was correct, it's VUR.me, hence a portion of the confusion all around. VirtualURL.com is part of the same outfit.

Things that come to mind for website blocking. Toolbars that include safe surfing. Modem is a home gateway that has a firewall built in. Windows firewall. Anti-virus is really full-suite of protection that is blocking. Security is elevated in IE and other browsers picked up the setting when installed.

Short of routing you through a proxy, I don't even know where to start. Can you ping vur.me? Tracert to it? I'm 99% sure that you can, only if you can't does it say anything. I'm a little stumped without having the computer in front of me.

    Now this is really strange....

Last night I forwarded the original link to my AOL mail and I was able to click it and it worked, whereas all times before it did not work. Still does not work in other browsers.

Yes, I can ping it but window closes after showing info.

Items you mentioned RE: website blocking don't apply. Will check my Anti-virus.

    Thanks

That's a good hint. Are you in webmail for AOL (open a browser and navigate to aol) or did you use an AOL program?

I used the AOL program. I also checked my virus program but don't
    see any blocks there.

Check out http://viralurls.com/how-to-fix-the-spybot-bug/ and see how SpyBot caused a false positive that blocks viralurl.com ... maybe you have that or a similar tool installed?

The video on that page is currently not working, but I am getting that fixed and until then you can read the description and see the screenshots.

    Re: domain vue.me

    Ah HA!

That means something. I'm not sure what, but it's a good one. At least you have one work around to view the site for the moment

You checked the security level of IE already? It's at the default? It's been a while since I've used the AOL software and needed to troubleshoot it, or in this case, use it to troubleshoot the browsers.

When you installed the other browsers, did you let it import your bookmarks and such from IE? Clearing the browser cache used to be the favorite fix-all, I almost don't want to suggest it.

    Re: domain vue.me

    Hi handygal,

IE security is Medium-High. Yes I did import bookmarks from IE.
Closing my browsers automatically clears cache, cookies, etc.

    Thanks.

Thanks add2it, but I don't use spybot. I use SuperAntiSpyware

    Hello, Dorilu
I have been trying to recreate the same problem that your experiencing with no results. With what Information that I have, it could be a BHO, or a IE plug-in causing this. Short of reseting the browser, maybe someone here could identify the cause, and give you a better fix.

    Re: domain vue.me

    Hi onegoodman,

Thanks for trying. About ready to give up.
Using AOL, I went to my yahoo mail and tried clicking the vue.me link
and it worked. Went to the virulurl.com page and it worked. Tried IE and got a "restricted zone" warning. I went down that list and did find virulurl.com. I thought, AH-HA found the problem. Not so. I tried again
after allowing that site but still got the "restricted zone" warning :confused

Thanks to those that tried to help but I think it's a lost cause.

    Lou

    Re: domain vue.me

Reseting the browser is an option of last resort. After you do this you will have to give permission for your plug-in's when they try to load, and the BHO for anti-virus software reloaded.

    Re: domain vue.me

Thanks, but this problem, as frustrating as it may be, is a minor
one and isn't really worth messing with my browser.

    Re: domain vue.me

    Hi

What you could try and its not resetting the Browser as in IE, is to run IE in its safe mode (no Addons) this you can find in Start > All Programs > Acessories > System Tools and see if this no-addon mode works ok, if it does then we have narrow the issue to indeed an addon,

Next is to find out which one and to do this open IE in its normal mode (the normal way you would open IE) then follow this to disable the addons HERE and once you have disabled all non-Microsoft ones start IE and is it working ok, if so enable one addon at a time and restart IE, if it works then continue enabling each one until IE doest work with the site you need, then post the addon that cause it and we can see what the issue with this addon is.

I would also disable all your security software as a test to see if any of them are causing the issue as well as in another test run in Safe Mode with Networking, F8 at boot and choose Safe Mode with Networking as this will give you net access in Safe Mode.
