Thank you TimW! Now hope this stays where it is suppost post. I had a jerk go into a computer on loan to someone, and he downloaded sensitive info that couldn't have been there without file recovery help since i had redone everything from original disks and said not to save anything. I would have put in a new hard drive if she had decided she wanted the computer, but she didn't so it came back - with the evidence her friend setting it up actually took our info instead. I can't use it until I get things straightened out. Why would the hard drive be set to "fourth master". When you see something downloaded on a particular date, isn't it impossible to change that created date ( for record of WHO had to have downloaded it). Is it possible to find any record of a file recovery program installed that was deleted then restore points created - and possibly then deleted, too, to hide traces iif it. What file endings do you look for to show what was added to computer then deleted, so you can make sure every bit of them are not even partially in use currently. There are over a million files found by easus but I didn't do anything with that info (don't know how), just wanted to find out if my info was still on computer to be accessed by someone. I'm thinking if he could find files, so could I now find HIS files. I need to know if these recovery programs show dates or just find the files but not any created dates. Just to have proof info accessed in case years from now we start having identity problems, not to go after the jerk, he'll get his in the end. This post should be deleted after anyone sends me kind help, as he may read it and try to find our new e-mail by going after your site. Sigh. I know you geeks are the smartest people around, so came to you.:wave

I have moved your post to the software forum. Perhaps someone here can help you with your questions.

Searched for software forum, found it, can't find my post. Guess, though, no one can help because I didn't get a notice of any other reply. It IS a convoluted problem, but still working on it from this end. Thank you anyway, and I will find time to re-familarize with the site after a few years gone, so I can use it fully and properly. BUSY times, right now. Happy Holidays all!

    Hi MyPalPassed,

I don't have any expertise in the area you require now, I do want to welcome you into(back) the forums and hope you can solve the security issue now going on for you. There are great folks here! And you make one more!:wave

MyPalPassed, a suggestion...don't write run on sentences and use spaces when you post. When I see something like your first post, I do not read a thing. I move elsewhere to another thread. That might be true for quite a few of us who have "senior" eyes.

That's a good suggestion, but when I read your comment about "spaces",
I wasn't sure about what you meant.

I Think what you mean is:
    • "Enter" some manual line breaks to shorten lines or "end" a sentence
    • Use paragraphs to group ideas
    • Add blank lines between paragraphs and to separate and/or highlight important comments

Sorry, I just thought this would make it a little clearer. ;)

I have "senior" eyes also - I even qualify for 'senior discounts' at most grocery stores. :cool

    to MyPalPassed.
When you delete something, the info is still there until something is written over it.It can still be recovered with the right program (FreeUndelete or Recuva are 2 that comes to mind.).
Can also be restored from Recycle Bin if not emptied.
I use DiskRedactor to overwrite all free space on a drive after doing that type of cleanup.

I, too, am in the "senior eyes" stage of life:). I think spaces refers to spaces after the periods..? I don't usually worry about grammar and spaces and such, from trying to get info out but save space.
I will remember that making it easy to read is needed. Many thanks to all, and happy and safe holiday season!

How much easier is this to read. :-D
Breaking the OP original post into paragraphs certainly makes it easier to read, IMO.

Certainly it also helps us with "senior eyes" ;)
