Re-install Windows XP but now USB ports don't work

Had to format my HD and re-install Windows XP Home. Tried cleaning, checking with McAffe and AntiSpyware but couldn't get the machine behaving like it used to. The one main issue I'm having is I'm not able to figure out why none of the four USB ports are working. Two are directly off the MOBO and there are another two that are run off the board and go to the front panel. These all were working before the re-install.

How do I get these going?

Heh, I had this exact same issue. I found out it was my disk (xp disc) clean your disc (if you don't have another) and format.

 

Sounds like your drivers didn't install, go to control panel >system> hardware> device manager and see if there is a mark beside the usb tab> if so right click on it > click properties> then delete> reboot the computer and you should get an message that states windows has found new hardware> let it install the drivers, hopefully this will work, if not post back
