re install xp

    problem i need to reinstall xp on laptop but the dvd drive will not work cos something is missing from the xp os files the drive is working but does not show any disk in it i have tried all the fix about removing upper and lower things from registry no good tried the windows help page no go i just need a way to do a new install any help thanks

    Do you see any options to enter the boot menu or BIOS in the post screen?

    The CD install loads before windows so it doesn't matter if windows sees or doesn't see the optical drive.

    You need to get into the BIOS, check if the optical drive is showing there then go to the part that says Boot Order and move the cd drive to the 1st position ahead of the hard drive.

    thanks to everyone who sent help for this i managed to reinstall xp but drive still not seeing disk in the dvdcd drive must be a problem with drive icant see how to remove it im on a fujitsu amilo laptop they seem to make things difficult to be able to fix yourself thanks again
