The reason this site has prospered where others have failed is purely the management structure, the rules are simple to follow and those who do not feel they can stay within the parameters are welcome to leave.
The moderators do a good if difficult job in ensuring standards are upheld.
earlier i participated on the tech forums where i learned a lot and tried helping members with less ability but now due to my illness i have lost a lot of my memory so i am no longer able to take part in the tech side of things.
Although i do not post much i am an avid reader on the forums and enjoy reading the posts in the lounge even when they get silly.

Majorgeeks may you live long and prosper.

    Bill

    Hi Bill

Great post and I agree with you which is why one rule that kinda has stuck without the need to moderate alot these days is keep the wizecracks out of the tech areas and in the lounge, actually thats my pet hate, as those asking questions no matter how simple to some, are stressed at times with a PC not working properly and do not need a clown posting junk, if you cannot help then leave the thread alone.... that said I dont see alot of this these days as I know many of you in the tech areas, self moderate and highlight bad advice to the admins/mods.

So thanks for all the help.

Agree! Every Geek here was at one time new to Tech and just learning. I am constantly learning something new just by reading the forums here. I have always appreciate someone having the patience to explain things in simple easy to understand terms when replying to questions. Remember not everyone has your level of Tech knowledge and expertise. If they did there would be no questions.
    Thank you Major Geeks!!

Bill I still think you know a lot more than you think. But if you don't feel up to the tech side I fully understand and thank you for your years of help on the forum tech areas and always look forward to your posts in the lounge.

I personally think i would rather give no advice than give bad advice.

As for the memory thing i have a 2 year blank prior to my falling into the coma.

...and then we came here, and we learned. ;)

One of many reasons I like you, is that integrity thing you keep doing. :)

I feel the same way. I don't have time to keep up with the tech forums anymore, so I've stopped trying. Better that way, than to start helping someone for a day or two and then drop out of the thread and leave that poor person hanging helpless without support, due to the off-line interference of my life.

Mimsy I have not forgotten that you helped me with a WinXP reinstall gone bad years ago. I appreciated your help and all the others who have helped me here at MG.

also agree with that no bad advice is good advice thing and is why i havent gone over to the tech forums unless ive had questions now.
