Read & Run Me First Not Working

    I read through the Read & Run message but caught a snag on the Cleaning Procedures.

    I downloaded all the recommended programs (SAS, SpyBot etc.) taking care to download them to the proper location.

    I double-clicked the SAS icon and an installer box opened as well as a Windows Error Message box reporting an error with 'spools.exe'. I clicked "ok" on the installer box and nothing happens. After several attempts with the same results I decided to move onto Spybot to see if I could install that.

    When I double-clicked the icon for Spybot again the Windows error message for 'spools.exe' came up but nothing for Spybot.

    I apologize if I am not following the proper posting protocol, but this is becoming quite bothersome (It's not even my computer, it is my boss'; it is one thing to fix your own computer, but come on, I have better things to do). Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Combofix does not need an installation...just download to the desktop and double click it.
    You should also be able to run the MGTools.exe ....those to logs (ComboFix and the C:\MGLogs.zip) should be attached to your next reply.

    Thank you for the help. I was able to run both combofix and MGTools. Attached are the logs.

    You appear to be running without anti-virus software. You also need to disable the guest account in user accounts.

    In the meantime:
    Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

    Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it. This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

    Now Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
    Now download The Avenger by Swandog469, and save it to your Desktop.

    * Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    * Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    * Do not change any check box options!!
    * Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it into the Input script here: part of the window:

    * Now click the Execute button.
    * Click Yes to the prompt to confirm you want to execute.
    * Click Yes to the Reboot now? question that will appear when Avenger finishes running.
    * Your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    * A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt and it will popup for you to view when you login after reboot.

    Also delete all files in the below folders except ones from the current date (Windows will not let you delete the files from the current day).
    C:\WINDOWS\Temp
    C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Temp

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this and also attach the log from Avenger.

    Be sure to tell us how things are running.

    Ok - I ran the MGTools Analyse with no problems. I downloaded, installed, and ran The Avenger. When the computer rebooted I got the blue screen with this message:

    "Stop: c0000135 {Unable to locate component}
    This application has failed to start because basejshi32 was not found. Re-installing the application may fix the problem."

    Help, any suggestions?

    Can you boot to safe mode by hitting the F8 key as it starts?
