real estate?

Hi all, i plan on getting a better job very soon, i'm 22yr old male and recently got out of college, well i'm looking at foreclosed homes, I'm living with the folks at the moment, but i found a few sites with houses in my area that are going about as low as 14k, i have to register to get more info about them, but my question is if looking at foreclosed homes, is there any good sites that give free info? Anything with the foreclosed homes i should look for inparticular? (other than house falling apart/bad neighborhood). I'm pretty lost when looking at housing, but i'd rather work hard to have a home of my own than rent a apartment unless i should try to go this way? I haven't talked to any agents yet cause i am just searching for the moment, and probably going to wait a bit before just jumping into something or getting pushed into something. But any help i can get is great.
