not sure if this is the right section :confused but here goes...

i checked over all of the similar threads and finally found at least one that led me to a site that fixed my first issue. every time that i update programs i usually have bad luck, as i did with realtek. as the update i got from their site didn't have the hd manager with it, and i couldn't locate it.

it took me forever to find out that i needed the manager. checking the box marked "speaker fill" on it was the only thing that made all of the speakers even produce sound. so, although i am happy that the speakers are all working... i would like to ask some one that may be informed on the subject two things.

one, to deal with this manager(and its location/download) in the future. is there any recommendations of sites to look for, or were exactly on realteks site i can locate updates that have the manager in them.
and two, is there anything else anyone can tell me about either 5.1 speaker systems(used for primarily on my computer), or realteks hd manager that might ensure i get all out of my speakers that i can.

thanks for any help, and feel free to redirect me to another section if needed.rolleyes

    Hi

TBH, once your audio is working and the manager (control panel) works fine then dont update, not worth breaking something thats working. Once my audio is working on a new system I rarely update it and dont think I ever have on last 4 PCs built.

If you are to update, then only get the latest driver from your system builder if OEM li
ke HP, Dell, eamchines etc or from the motherboard maker as in ASUS, Gigabyte etc but as I mentioned I wouldnt update if its working now ok.

What 5.1 speaker system do you have? as to get the most from audio on yoru PC you need a good quality speaker system, not all 5.1 hardware speakers are the same quality.

    i recently got a Logitech Z-5500 THX-Certified 505-Watt 5.1 Digital Surround Sound Speaker System.
it is a prty nice system, although i haven't had anything that was more than 2 speakers ever so. i initially thought is was busted or defective when it wouldnt come out all speakers. but the test of speakers showed all worked, and blue rays had nice sound. so it must have been the manager and the quality of audio.
and i said its working, but i wanted to be sure i got all i could out of it since as i said i have never owned a 5.1
i will continue to try and fight the urge to update rolleyes, but still if you know anything about this manager then i would appreciate some insight. there may also be something simpler, better, i dunno what. but i think i started using the realtek manager because a friend was and i was having some minor audio issues, and my headset/mic wasn't really working.
audio overlaps in so many areas that it is way too anoying whenever i try and solve just one thing.:cry

    thanks for the reply.

    Hi

well thanks again, but those seem as though they are just vague instruction manuals that go over the options in a as basic a way as possible.
sadly, my set up also doesn't have the dts option that it seems to pride itself on. perhaps that was something that was just integrated into this most recent version so that i just dont see it as pictured in the pdf.
im not sure if the bit rates that are available in the options really matter or if there is any way to real decipher what bit rate is for what situation.
if i still feel the need, maybe i just need to make a link more directly about asking for specific instruction/information about the program itself. rather than the possible blanket claim i made here.
