I'm encountering some COM+ problems that I suspect have their origin in the registry. Would reapplying WinXP SP2 reset the registry, which hopefully would correct the com+ problems. Is there any risk to reapplying SP2 to a computer which already has SP2 and is fully patched with the latest MS fixes?

I believe this was caused (by the way) via the (over agressive) use of Registry Mechanic. I believe the registry issues induced by my ignorant use of Registry Mechanic is also causing problems installing and running IIS. But that's another problem, though I hope reapplying sp2will fix it as well, as I supect it is also a registry problem.

    Thanks in Advance
    Dan

I'm sure that a reinstall would correct dysfunct registry entries, but you could never be too safe. I would backup the registry, create a restore point, then try un/reinstalling SP2. That way, if it doesn't fix your problem, at least you can go back to how it was before.

Never know until you find out for sure, hmm?
