    Afternoon guys,

I have a question that isn't directly related to PC hardware but I feel that the mechanics are the same.

I know that the main cause of the YLOD is a break in the connection of a solder ball between either the CPU or GPU on a Playstation 3. My mate's PS3 did this so I decided to reflow it using the heatgun method (and it worked for a while), but now it has the same fault again.

He contacted a place near him and asked if they did reballing for PS3 chips, and their response was:

"We don't touch Playstation 3's and don't reball them because the reballing method only lasts a couple of weeks"

I was dumbfounded when my mate told me this, are they telling the truth or just fobbing him off to go somewhere else?

Surely a properly reballed chip with strong solder (and fluxed) is supposed to last a long time!!

What do you guys think? (fingers on fire)

    Hello,
I gather you might be from Australia? I found a Youtube video with a comment that Beetronix will do a Reball.

No I'm from the UK. I might consider taking up reballing myself :)
