I run a EVGA 275 and 9800gt cards on a Asus p5q-e and both work great.

This user purchased this item from Newegg

    Pros: Had everything I needed

Cons: Previous review stated the following: Cons: BE AWARE.. ASUS supports only asus graphics cards, If you buy this mother board for gaming, first check asus website to find cards that will run with asus programs like Smart doctor, Graphics NOS, and more I bought a Saphire HD4870 and board won't recognize it. although asus has downloads to recognize asus brand 4870 ATI Radion cards, the other cards will play but you loose many tweaking n o'clocking programs standard w/ board.
Other Thoughts: Has anyone else found this to be the case? """"

It could be the case for ATI cards but unlikely as I have a friend with a similar mobo the P5Q and an ATI card works fine for him.

On another note read and skim through all the cons for that board, I noticed a LOT of reports of Crashing and random restarts. You were right when you said "It would seem that this board has some issues" I ignored the cons before i got my biostar board and i was told not to pay much attention to them but i really wish i would have, I don't want to make the same mistake twice.

lol Ok I've set up somewhere around 20-25 machines in the last 5 years including 4 of my own with Asus boards and ATI cards, I'm an Asus and Ati fan so I always reccomend them first, I don't force them on people but I say "Thats the one I would choose" and not once had a problem. Although his main concern seems to be board software. Most of the extra software that comes with the board I don't use but even if I did I would gladly give up the board software (not drivers) for an ATI card or Nvidia come to that. There are other ways of doing what he was trying to do, I think he just got in a tizwaz.

Also did you see anyone else have the same prob? I looked around last night for this prob and couldn't find a single nugget of info about it. I seriously wouldn't worry about that at this point.

As for the crashes etc, thats why I said on second look it has some issues, like I said, you're not looking to buy it today so I suggest waiting until you have the money and then go bargain hunting, Newegg change their deals every day so what might be a half decent board for $80 today, your $80 tommorrow may get you a really good board on sale from $125 with free shipping.
Like I said, I only quick found that stuff, glance over the specs to make sure it fits together but didn't really look at reviews, it was just an example of how much stuff costs.

@Scarjj.... Nice to see someone having an ok time with BioStar, it's unfair to say they are all bad but I've seen at least 5 fail in my travels and had 2 fail myself, also had big problems with drivers etc, admittedly this was a while ago but wounds like that have lasting effects. When buying a mobo I always suggest going with big brand names, they have issues too but not near as often and if you do have issues it's much easier to find help.
